Maya swam for her county as a teenager, then spent five years teaching on cruise ships before joining Shallows in 2014. She built the five-stage method and trains every new teacher.
Her lessons are famous for silly games that sneak in serious technique. Ask any Stage 4 swimmer about "the shark tunnel".
Outside the pool she coaches the masters squad and swims in the sea all year round.
